The new normal

Many talk of the autism spectrum; sketch out scales of bipolarity. But few have ever ordered people by proximity to the universe next door.

Think of it as the relationship between ghosts and a clairvoyant, only real. She, who cannot decide where to go now, next year, ever, is not torn between possibilities, but spread across actualities. He, who dreams of a life with a colleague who is not his wife, is not a cad; he loves them both, in different spaces.

Most, mercifully, wallow in the cool indigo, unaware of other universes and, by extension, of the spectrum itself.
