The bujuvak

It is no accident that the bujuvak has evolved this way. It is a triumph of design: a species doggedly committing itself to survival, and humiliation be damned.

There have been many fatalities along the way. How could there not be, when a creature with flippers (and no claws to speak of) takes to the treetops? Nights, for a while, were especially bad, punctuated by the soft thud of bujuvak on earth as sleep loosened its flippery grip.

That is why all bujuvaks prepare for bed by wrapping their tails around a branch before biting them tight between their teeth.
